Hana ni Natta Shounen no Shinwa – Ceui (Lyrics/Translation)

EPIC TIME!!!!!11!!11!

I hope you’re ready because this song is not only huge but it’s got a lot of back story ^^; Now, my translation is a little clunky at the moment but it conveys the meaning so don’t be surprised if you come back in a few weeks and see it looking pretty different. The lyrics are a little unclear as to what’s narrative and what’s spoken word so bear with me

(Warning: Long post ahead!)

The Legend of the Boy Who Became a Flower

I Prologue
This is a story from long, long ago. A tale from a far-off land. Beneath the brilliant sky I [God of the Sun]* and you [a boy] met by chance.
We where so happy together. “If we where to meet again just once more… if I could hear your voice just once more… Where am I to go now having lost you?”

II The Cloud Goddess
Vividly, languidly desiring light [the Sun], Fate crumbled into a cruel sky [Paradise].
The love that surrounded their relationship evoked jealousy in the Cloud Goddess and she couldn’t forgive them
“Say! Say! Love me! Say! Say! Look at me! Say! Say! Kneel before me! Say! Say! Above anyone else, Say! Say! I am the most beautiful in the world…!”
In madness, the goddess invaded his stolen body with her nail-marks. The mirage of a tragedy.
Without changing, he continued to bring him, without knowing that his beloved had been stolen away…

III The Witch of the Forest of Aphrodisiacs
“Welcome, I expected you would come. This is the Aphrodisiac Forest. You can forget everything here. Now, now, enjoy yourself!
Good night, poor Sun God. Good night, until the Cloud Goddess returns,”
In the depths of the gloomy forests, the Sun God awoke and a Wind nymph whispered to him
“It’s awful! The Goddess has gone to the boy!”

IV The Cloud Goddess has….**
The thundering clouds, through an arrow of passion said “I am the muse [cloud goddess]. With this hand, I’ll destroy all of those things that are not in yours..!
I cannot forgive you! I cannot forgive you because you didn’t choose me! My heart that keeps getting in the way and you, too… I’ll-,”
Then, casting the poisoned arrow, it pierced through him, the boy’s beautiful eyes closed and he fell into sleep. Wordlessly as he was, the Sun God hadn’t told him about his love…

V The Boy’s Memory
I recalled our first, dazzling meeting within me.
Wherever you went, your freedom filled the sky with light.
“What a radiant person… what a shining person…”
How I wanted to know you better but now, that will never be able to happen.
“Tomorrow, I want to talk more with that person” the boy yearned, spreading infinite wings.

VI  The Time of His Demise
“Say! Say! Love me!
Say! Say! Look at me!
Say! Say! Kneel before me!
Say! Say! I am the most beautiful in the world!”
Running to them, the Sun God’s eyes widened, wishing that what he saw was a dream, the tragic image [illusion] Without opening his eyes, the boy gathered his cheeks in a final kiss. The Goddess vanished. The Sun God’s tears overflowed in him and he hardly cared, ah!

VII The Sunlight of Restoration
Lan, la, la, la, lan~ La, la, la, lan~ La, lan~ Before long, through a crack in the clouds-
Lan, la, la, la, lan~ La, la, la, lan~ La, lan~ Yes, the light reached through
“Smile… smile… just one more time look at me with that smile. We spent those sparse seasons together, floating. We didn’t meet each other to understand saddness. At least, bathed in the sunlight, smile. I will make a flower of you,”

VIII Epilogue
This is a story from long, long ago. A tale from a far-off land.
“Calendula, For you, I- Calendula continue to shine.
Calendula. Bloom to your very limits.
Calendula. I-
Calendula.I will become-
Calendula. Become your sun.
Calendula. Calendula. Calendula. Forever.

Translator’s Notes
* The word in [brackets] is the word written in the lyrics but the word before it is what she sings. Take it as a double meaning.
** The verb comes last in a Japanese sentence so I proper translation would be “The Cloud Goddess has…… the boy” but that’s not as dramatic ^^;

「SAY!SAY! 愛して
SAY!SAY!
SAY!SAY!
SAY!SAY! 誰より
SAY!SAY!

「SAY!SAY! 愛して
SAY!SAY!
SAY!SAY!
SAY!SAY! 誰より
SAY!SAY!
